For the “I know this verse… mostly” moments

You know that verse you love, right up until you try to say it? A few words are there. The next one is apparently on a coffee break.

That’s a lovely place to start. Bible Veil helps you practice one verse at a time: hide a few words, see what you remember, and enjoy the little “I got it!” moment when they come back. Short reviews help you stay familiar with the words over time.

A few quiet minutes. A verse worth carrying with you. No perfect mornings required.

A little hide. A little seek.

  1. Pick a verse you love. Browse the Bible, choose a topic like Peace or Hope, or let Today’s Verse get you started.
  2. See what comes to mind. Read the verse, then slide to hide a few words. Say them from memory. Need a peek? Hold the verse. Peeking is part of practice.
  3. Put it back together. Play three short rounds: Half Veil, Full Veil, and Blank Page. Tap the missing words in order, or say the verse out loud and watch the words appear. A hint is there when you need one.
  4. Say hello again. Your first review comes the next day. Later intervals range from three days to four months, depending on how well you remember. Bible Veil handles the schedule. You bring yourself.

Make yourself at home

  • Your pace. Your next verse. Learn whenever you’re ready, or choose one, two, or three new verses a week. Save favorites in a queue so you always have somewhere to start.
  • A little Scripture between things. The Home Screen widget hides a few words for you to recall. Waiting for the kettle counts as an opportunity.
  • A gentle nudge, if you’d like. One optional reminder a day, only when something is waiting. Your streak has room for a rest day every seven days, too.
  • Four Bibles, already here. The complete World English Bible, Berean Standard Bible, King James Version, and Korean Revised Version (개역한글). Browse and practice with word tiles offline.
  • Room for your voice. Say verses in English or Korean, and switch back to tiles whenever you like, even mid-round. Download Apple’s speech model once; after setup, recognition happens on your device. Your voice is never saved or sent.
  • Easy on the eyes. Warm ivory pages, soft sage details, beautiful titles, and a dark mode for the last quiet minutes of the day. Made for iPhone and iPad, in English and Korean.
  • One purchase. Plenty of practice. No account, no ads, no subscription. Your verses and progress stay on your device, with no sync between devices. Anonymous usage analytics can be turned off in Settings → Privacy.

Requires iOS 18.6 or later. Voice practice requires a supported device with iOS 26 or later and internet for the initial speech model download.

A small app, made with care

I’m Igor, the developer behind Bible Veil, in Moldova. The team is small enough to share one chair. I make the app, answer your emails, and care about the little things that make practicing feel good.

Thank you for making room for it in your day. Pick a verse you love. Let’s see what you remember.

Changelog

1.3 — Your “I know this one!” moment has a microphone

This update brings together the work from 1.1 and 1.2, which weren’t released separately.

  • Say it out loud. Voice practice works in learning sessions and reviews, in English and Korean. Watch the hidden words appear as you speak, and switch to tiles at any time. A pause can reveal the next word’s first letter.
  • More words to make your own. The Berean Standard Bible and Korean 개역한글 join the library. The whole app now supports Korean, from the first screen to the widget and reminders.
  • A warmer place to practice. Ivory pages, espresso text, soft sage, elegant new titles, and gold stars and laurels for those “got it!” moments. The app icon and dark mode join in, too.
  • Long verses get some breathing room. Word tiles have more space, and the verse scrolls to keep your place in view. Moving between pages feels smoother, with no overlapping titles.

Voice practice requires a supported device with iOS 26 or later and a one-time download of Apple’s speech model. Audio and transcripts are never saved or sent.

1.0 — A little wordplay, a verse worth keeping

  • Read a verse, hide a few words, and rebuild it through Half Veil, Full Veil, and Blank Page.
  • Spaced reviews, from the next day up to four-month intervals.
  • The World English Bible and King James Version, fifteen topics, and a queue for your next verses.
  • A Home Screen widget, an optional daily reminder, and a streak with room for a rest day.

Support

Hi, I’m Igor. Support comes straight to me. No ticket maze. Just a person who wants your next verse to go a little more smoothly.

Questions, ideas, or a word that won’t behave? Email [email protected]. For a problem, please include your device, iOS version, and what happened.

I missed a few days. Did I lose my verses?

No. Your verses and progress are still here. Missed reviews wait without a lateness penalty, and the app offers no more than ten a day. Your streak allows one rest day every seven days; a longer break can reset the streak, but not erase your learned verses. No apology needed. Come back when you’re ready.

Is there a subscription?

No. One purchase, with no subscription or in-app purchases.

Where is my progress stored?

On your device, with no cross-device sync. Device backups follow your own iCloud or computer backup settings. Anonymous usage analytics never include which verses you learn; turn them off in Settings → Privacy. The privacy policy has the details.

Can I switch translations?

Yes, in Settings or from the Library: World English Bible, Berean Standard Bible, King James Version, or 개역한글. Switching changes the text of every verse, including the ones you’ve learned. NIV and ESV aren’t included.

How do I practice by voice?

During a word-game round, select the microphone in the switch above the tiles. Tap Download if the speech model is needed, allow microphone access, and say the verse. Setup needs internet; recognition then happens on your device. Your voice is never saved or sent. Voice requires a supported device with iOS 26 or later. You can always switch back to tiles.

Is Bible Veil in Korean?

Yes. The interface follows your device’s language, English or Korean, and a new Korean installation starts with 개역한글. You can choose a different Bible translation independently.

How do I add the widget?

Touch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen until the apps jiggle. Tap Edit, then Add Widget. Search for Bible Veil, choose a size, and tap Add Widget.

How do I start over?

Choose Reset Bible Veil at the bottom of Settings. It erases your verses, progress, streak, reminder, and settings, and can’t be undone.

Privacy

Effective October 22, 2026

Bible Veil is an iPhone and iPad app for memorizing Bible verses. It is made by Igor Putina, an independent developer based in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova (“I”, “me”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it.

In short

What you memorize is between you and God. Your verses, your progress and your settings stay on your device, and there is no account. To learn which parts of the app actually help people keep their verses, Bible Veil sends a few anonymous usage statistics, such as “a verse was learned”, to Google Analytics for Firebase. They never include which verses, what you search for, or anything that identifies you. They are never used for advertising, and Bible Veil never tracks you across other companies’ apps or websites. You can turn them off at any time in Settings › Privacy.

What stays on your device

Everything you do in the app: the verses you add, learn and review, your queue, your progress and review schedule, your streak, your reminder time and your settings. None of it is sent to me or to anyone else. Like any app’s data, it is included in your device backups, under your own iCloud or computer backup settings. Reset Bible Veil in Settings erases it from the app, and so does deleting the app.

The daily reminder, if you turn it on, is scheduled by iOS on your device. The Home Screen widget reads your current verse from the app on your device.

If you practice by voice, Bible Veil uses the microphone only while you’re saying a verse. Your speech is turned into words on your device, by a speech model from Apple that you download once. The audio and the words you say are never saved, and never sent to me or to anyone else.

The anonymous usage statistics

Bible Veil records that a few moments happened, so I can see, in aggregate, whether people finish their first verse, come back for reviews, or find the widget. These are:

  • opening the app, including from the widget or a reminder;
  • finishing the welcome steps, and whether the first verse was learned or skipped;
  • opening a topic in the Library, such as “Peace”;
  • starting a search, but never what you searched for;
  • adding verses to your queue, and how many, but never which;
  • starting a learning session, and starting the word game;
  • learning a verse, but never which one;
  • finishing a review, and how many stars it earned, but never which verse;
  • for the word game and reviews, whether you tapped the words or said them out loud, but never what you said;
  • whether a widget is on your Home Screen, whether the daily reminder is on, and which Bible translation you’ve chosen.

Along with them, Google Analytics automatically collects basic technical details: a random identifier for this installation of the app, the app and iOS version, the device model, your language, an approximate location such as your country (worked out from your IP address, which Google Analytics does not log or store), and when and for how long the app is used.

The statistics never include your name, email address or Apple Account; the verses you learn or their text; what you type or search for; your precise location; your contacts or photos; or any advertising identifier. Bible Veil uses a version of the Firebase SDK that cannot read the advertising identifier (IDFA), and it also turns off the device’s vendor identifier (IDFV), ad personalization, ad storage and ad network registration. It never asks for permission to track you, because it doesn’t.

Google processes these statistics on my behalf, as a service provider, under the Google Analytics Terms of Service and Google’s data processing terms, and may do so on servers in the United States and other countries. I have turned off Google signals and the setting that lets Google use this data for its own products and services. Event data is kept for two months and then deleted. You can read how Google handles it in Google’s Privacy Policy and in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

I use the statistics only to understand how the app is used and to make it better, which is my legitimate interest; the data is limited to the moments above, and you can switch it off at any time. I do not sell or share personal information, including as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act, and I don’t use it for advertising.

Your choices

  • Turn the statistics off: Settings › Privacy › Share Anonymous Usage. Nothing more is sent from that moment on.
  • Start fresh: Reset Bible Veil in Settings erases your data on the device and resets the random installation identifier, so new statistics can’t be connected with earlier ones.

Purchases

Bible Veil is sold through the App Store. Apple processes your payment and your Apple Account under Apple’s Privacy Policy. I never receive your name, email address, Apple Account or payment details, only aggregated sales reports, such as how many copies were sold in each country.

Information Apple may share with developers

If you have turned on Share with App Developers in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share crash reports and usage statistics with the developers of the apps you use, including me. Apple decides what these contain, and you can turn the setting off at any time. I use anything I receive this way only to find and fix problems.

If you contact me

If you email me, I receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. I use it only to reply and to help with your request. I don’t add you to any mailing list or share your message with anyone, and I’ll delete it whenever you ask.

Children

Bible Veil is suitable for all ages but isn’t directed at children under 13. The usage statistics contain nothing that identifies anyone, of any age. If you believe a child has sent me personal information by email, write to me and I will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation, the data protection law of the Republic of Moldova and US state privacy laws give you the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to receive a copy of it, and to withdraw consent. Because the statistics aren’t linked to you, I usually can’t find the ones that came from your device, but you can stop them at any time with Share Anonymous Usage and reset them with Reset Bible Veil. For anything else, write to me and I will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority where you live, or in Moldova to the National Center for Personal Data Protection.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with a new effective date. I will not start collecting anything beyond what is described here without first updating this policy and the app’s App Store privacy label, and asking for your consent where the law requires it.

License

Effective October 22, 2026

In short

Bible Veil is licensed to you under Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement. A few extra terms below cover what’s specific to Bible Veil. The Bible texts inside the app are in the public domain, so you’re free to share them as widely as you like.

1. Apple’s Standard EULA

Bible Veil, including its updates, widget and documentation (the “App”), is licensed to you under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”). For the App, the “Application Provider” and “Licensor” under the Standard EULA is Igor Putina (the “Developer”). The Standard EULA sets out, among other things, how you may use the App, what you may not do with it, the disclaimer of warranties, the limits of the Developer’s liability, termination and the governing law.

The terms below (the “Additional Terms”) supplement the Standard EULA and don’t replace it. If they conflict, the Standard EULA prevails. By downloading, installing or using the App, you agree to the Standard EULA and to these Additional Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the App.

2. Scripture

The Bible texts in the App are in the public domain: the World English Bible, the Berean Standard Bible and the King James Version, as published by eBible.org, and the Korean Revised Version (개역한글, 1961), from Wikisource through the CrossWire Bible Society. Nothing in the Standard EULA or these Additional Terms limits what you may do with them. They are provided as published, and the Developer doesn’t guarantee that they are complete, free of errors, or identical to other editions.

3. A tool for memorizing

The App helps you memorize and review text. Its topics, verse selections and review schedule are a starting point, not religious, theological, pastoral, medical or other professional advice, and they don’t endorse any particular interpretation. How you read, understand and apply Scripture is your own. The Developer doesn’t promise any particular result from using the App.

4. Your data

Your verses, progress and settings are stored only on your device. The Developer has no copy and can’t restore them. Deleting the App, choosing Reset Bible Veil, losing or resetting your device, or restoring it from a backup can erase them, and keeping backups is your responsibility. The Privacy Policy explains what the App collects and why.

5. Reminders, the widget and voice practice

Reminders and the Home Screen widget depend on iOS and your device settings. iOS decides when and whether a reminder is shown and when a widget refreshes, so the Developer can’t guarantee that either will appear on time, or at all. Voice practice depends on the speech recognition built into iOS, which isn’t available on every device or in every language, and can mishear words.

6. Ownership

The App is licensed, not sold. Apart from the public domain Bible texts, the Developer keeps all rights in the App, including the Bible Veil name, its design, code, illustrations, and its selection and arrangement of verses and topics. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved. Apple, iPhone and iPad are trademarks of Apple Inc.

7. Feedback

If you send an idea, suggestion or other feedback about the App, the Developer may use it freely, without any obligation or payment to you.

8. Changes, updates and support

The Developer may change, suspend or discontinue the App or any of its features at any time, and isn’t obliged to provide updates, maintenance or support. Updates are covered by the Standard EULA and these Additional Terms unless they come with their own terms.

9. Your responsibility

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Developer against any claims, losses, damages and costs, including reasonable legal fees, that arise from your breach of the Standard EULA or these Additional Terms, or from your unlawful use of the App.

10. Your rights as a consumer

Nothing in the Standard EULA or these Additional Terms excludes or limits any right you have as a consumer that can’t be excluded or limited by contract under the law of the country where you live.

11. Changes to these terms

The Developer may update these Additional Terms. The new version will be published here with a new effective date, and continuing to use the App after an update means you accept it. Apple may update the Standard EULA, and its current version applies.

12. General

The Standard EULA, these Additional Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and the Developer about the App. Apple isn’t a party to these Additional Terms and has no responsibility for them. If any part of these Additional Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. A failure to enforce any part is not a waiver.
