What it does
Deep Work Tracker is a focus timer built around Cal Newport’s concept of deep work — the practice of concentrating without distraction on cognitively demanding tasks. You set a session length, name what you’re working on, and commit. The app stays out of your way while you focus, then logs the session when you’re done.
Over time, the log builds into a record of your focused hours. You can see how your attention is actually being spent, which makes it easier to protect it.
How to use it
- Start a session. Enter what you’re working on and set a duration. The timer begins immediately — no confirmation, no friction.
- Focus. The app counts down in the background. You can glance at remaining time, but there’s nothing else to tap or configure mid-session.
- End and reflect. When the session ends, rate the quality of your focus and note the outcome. This takes under ten seconds.
- Review your log. The history view shows your sessions by day and week. Look for patterns in when you do your best work.
